Product Owner
This position will support the Product Development team and will own and manage the Research Discovery product line. The candidate will need the ability to gain a deep understanding of the entire Academic Analytics product suite and data set but will specialize in the implementation and development of Discovery products. The ideal candidate will have experience in the Higher Education sector, specifically from a private product perspective and will be comfortable delivering presentations to campus leadership. The successful candidate will demonstrate the product team’s core principles of flexibility, collaboration, and innovation. Primary Responsibilities:
- Become the in-house product expert for the Research Discovery product line
- Discover, gather and document business requirements from current clients and internal stakeholders
- Translate requirements into clear “Epics” and discrete “Stories” using accepted agile practices
- Manage Discovery Suite implementations from start to finish, including:
-sales cycle support,
-requirement gathering and business analysis
-implementation management/project management
-documentation
-training
-ongoing support - Conduct internal and external product training sessions (on-site and via WebEx)
- Record thorough requirements in the product backlog tool (currently Visual Studio), including mockups, detailed descriptions and a “definition of done”
- Groom and prioritize the product backlog
- Make determinations regarding prioritization of new feature development vs. bug fixes
- Assist the Communications Team in the development of marketing material
- Provide support as needed to the Product Development team
- Provides sales and client support related to the product via WebEx or traveling to client locations
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience with agile software development from a product or sales perspective
- Excellent Quantitative Skills
- The ideal candidate will have familiarity with basic project and portfolio management fundamentals (especially agile)
- Familiarity with and willingness to telework 40+ hours/week
- Ability to travel (30% of work time)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5+ years of progressively more advanced experience in a client-centered business environment
