DeviantArt

We are where art starts, but that’s only the beginning. We are the movement for the liberation of creative expression. We believe that art is for everyone, and we’re creating the cultural context for how it is created, discovered, and shared.

Founded in August 2000, DeviantArt is the largest online social network for artists and art enthusiasts, and a platform for emerging and established artists to exhibit, promote, and share their works with an enthusiastic, art-centric community. We have over 44 million registered members and attract over 45 million unique visitors per month. Our members — known as deviants — upload tens of thousands of original pieces of art every day, everything from painting and sculpture to digital art, pixel art, films, and anime.

Artists love us because we are an inclusive and supportive community. We help them find their identity through self-expression. We provide the tools, resources, and exposure to enable them to become better, more successful artists. We inspire people to create art by feeding their creativity. We can’t help it — it runs through our veins and compels us to nurture it in others. This is DeviantArt.

PIXELLU

Pixellu was co-founded in 2010 by two wedding photographers. Faced with the challenges of long hours and endless tasks, we began asking ourselves, “How can we save valuable time, make more money, and get our lives back?” Our answer was technology. We started Pixellu with the idea that we could make money by providing an honest service that helped photographers save time and live more fulfilling lives. We believed that, by focusing on a great product and great service, we could build a business that not only does good, but also does well.
Armed with industry knowledge and the best crew, Pixellu is on a mission to develop simple and beautiful solutions for the world of photography. Driven by a desire to help fellow photographers, we push the envelope daily to create tools that are intuitive, reliable, and easy to use. We hope to continue to produce great work and delight you with innovative products for many years to come.

Sherpa, Inc.

While working together at Accordent and Polycom, K.C. Watson and Mark Strathdee saw firsthand a growing gap in the way corporations communicated. Companies were ill-equipped for the increasing demands of modern video – stuck on poor user experiences, inadequate security, and technical barriers to embracing emerging formats like AR, VR, and 360-degree video. K.C. and Mark knew there had to be a better way, and in 2011, Sherpa was born.

Sherpa quickly gained the business of some of the world’s premier companies and developed its modern platform into the product it is today. Now, Sherpa Stream empowers companies to share beautiful, immersive video experiences to employees, partners, and customers with a new level of simplicity and scale.
Sherpa’s value extends beyond its technology. As a long-term trusted partner, Sherpa provides its customers with guidance, best practices, and thought leadership that’s backed by decades of combined expertise in enterprise video architecture and live streaming event production.

Sherpa is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and backed by several of the region’s premier venture investors.

Social.mom

This is Audrey Poulin, founder of Social mom. I dreamed of a safe space online where I could be myself, talk about real stuff, and rejoice over things that only moms can understand. A place where moms could exchange tips, share experiences and help each other out. And, above all, I dreamed about the possibility of being able to find other new moms in my neighborhood without having to knock on every door to find a friend to walk with or have a coffee with (and reheat 3 times!).
So David and I decided to quit our jobs to build such a place.
We hope you enjoy it! Please send me your impressions at audrey@social.mom.
The world is how we perceive it. As mothers, we can change the world for our children as we help shape their perspective of it. Let’s be the mothers we want to be, together.
Social.mom is a place for happiness, peace and free hugs!

Unsplash

In 2013, Unsplash launched as a modest Tumblr blog. Since then, Unsplash evolved far beyond a blog into one of the most impactful online communities. Today, over a billion photos are seen on Unsplash every month. A photo featured on Unsplash is now viewed more than the front page of The New York Times and the cover of TIME magazine.

The Unsplash community is fueled by contributors who offer their photos freely for anyone to use inspiring millions of creators from 13-year-old graphic designers to multi-platinum recording artists. Unsplash is a special community, where the powerful principles of sharing and openness have taken the place of strict copyright and legal red tape. The web was meant to connect, inform, and inspire us in unprecedented ways. And the Unsplash community embodies this philosophy fully.

Unsplash has become a place where the impact of our connected world is on full display. Instead of photos being hoarded and shut down, photos on Unsplash are given as fuel for creativity. At Unsplash, our mission is to empower everyone to create. You don’t need to know someone, or have an agent, or have a name to be great on Unsplash. We’re a place where creators meet their audience. A place where individuals become a community. And a source of inspiration for millions of people from every country in the world. We’ve seen how the willingness to give a single photo can unlock so much more than a few bucks.

DataQuest

After barely graduating college, in 2011 Vik Paruchuri found himself working for the US Foreign Service. Bored, he taught himself how to code before venturing into the world of data science and machine learning.

After winning several Kaggle competitions, EdX hired Vik as a machine learning engineer. At EdX, Vik observed how technology could provide an alternative to the traditional education system.

Based on the many lessons he learned on his own journey, along with his observations about how successful data scientists learn, Vik started building Dataquest in 2015

At Dataquest, we teach data science to a community of hundreds of thousands of students worldwide. We help students deeply learn concepts, build projects, work together, and gain the confidence they need to start new careers. Read more about our philosophy here, and read what students think here.
We want to eventually help tens of millions of students worldwide change their lives through data science education, and you’ll play a key role in helping us get there. We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help support and evolve our learning platform.
