Your Responsibilities
  • Run and improve on product engineering processes including sprint planning, training and timely delivery of product — in collaboration with engineering leaders
  • Work with product, design, data and customer teams to develop new initiatives and improve existing product engineering processes.
  • Foster a healthy and collaborative culture that embodies our team values e.g. Bro-Free Zone and thoughtfulness.
  • Manage engineering team health through retros, one-on-ones and other feedback meetings.
  • Help grow and develop a team of talented and motivated engineers.
What Will Make You Stand Out
  • Engineering management experience with a strong record of shipping product with Agile processes.
  • Experienced product engineer that knows which product engineering processes work well and don’t work.
  • Experience working remotely. The engineering team is a distributed one with remote-first processes.
  • Experience working in a startup and with engineering teams of 10-40 people.
  • Enjoy mentorship, talking to people and growing teams.
  • Experience or strong interest in healthcare products.
  • Strong technical discipline with a good dose of people skills.
  • Interest in working with teams that use functional programming languages. We primarily use Clojure(Script).
Compensation and Perks
  • Competitive salary ($100-160k) and meaningful stock options — commensurate to your experience and expertise. Compensation varies from mid-level to very senior.

PR & Communications Coordinator

We’re looking for a PR/communications professional to help us launch and grow a new site focused on small businesses.
In a nutshell, you will be the point man/woman, responding to press inquiries, performing outreach to potential media outlets and websites, and working with the rest of our remote team to get our content placed and in front of the right people.
While this job is remote (anywhere in the world), you will need to be available Monday-Friday overlapping with both Pacific and Eastern time, so you can do interviews.
Ideally, you have a PR, communications, and marketing background, and have worked on similar projects in the past, and can show us proven and successful campaigns that you’ve worked on recently.
What you’ll be doing day to day:
  1. Coordinating interview requests and doing the actual interviews (usually for local radio)
  2. Finding new outlets and doing outreach to get placed in those outlets
  3. Working with existing outlets you developed in #2 to get even more placements
  4. Reviewing inbound PR queries from various sources and responding to the relevant ones
  5. Managing the entire flow of research, outreach, placements, and interviews.
  6. Develop new tactics and strategies related to our PR
  7. Coming up with ideas for more PR content and then coordinating with our content team to get it built/executed
What success looks like:

  1. Increase in placements and articles about our content and message
  2. Web traffic on a consistent “up and to the right” basis
  3. Establishment of the brand as a go-to resource for journalists and reporters who report about issues related to small business and the economy
What we’re looking for in a hire:
  1. Have done something like this before.
  2. Have previous and good experience working remote.
  3. Are a detail-oriented person.
  4. Enjoy talking to and interacting with people.
  5. Speak and write fluent, mother-tongue English
  6. Know how to use tools like BuzzStream, BuzzSumo, aHrefs and the like to find PR and placement opportunities.
This position is on a Freelance/1099 basis.

Required skills and qualities:
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in sales
  • At least 2 years of sales experience in the web development industry
  • Proficient computer usage skills (Google Spreadsheets, Google Docs, Google Drive)
  • Strong, positive personality, and the “drive” and determination that is needed to succeed in sales
  • Great communication skills: At least upper-intermediate verbal and written English
  • Independent, self-motivated work approach that is necessary to work from home

OUR TEAMS MISSION
The TaxJar marketing team’s mission is clear: get more eCommerce businesses to experience TaxJar to manage their sales tax reporting, filing and calculations. The marketing team’s goal is to maximize the number of qualified customers that begin our free trial and ensure the highest percentage of those folks end up as a customers. We work closely every day alongside sales, success, development, and user experience teams in order to deliver on these goals.
The Senior Demand Generation Manager is fanatical about finding and engaging our target audiences, generating qualified sales leads, and ultimately producing revenue opportunities for the TaxJar sales team to close.
AS A SR. DEMAND GENERATION MANAGER AT TAXJAR YOU WILL
  • Develop and communicate a strategic plan. Own the research, development, implementation, and success of multi-channel lead generation programs in order to meet lead, prospect, and ultimately, revenue goals.
  • Define the right tactics for reaching target markets, build a sales pipeline of qualified prospects, develop KPI’s, and measure results of activities on a regular and ongoing basis.
  • Be responsible for creating and implementing marketing plans that drive both inbound and outbound demand generation, messaging, and define our market/vertical segmentation.
  • Identify trends to nurture prospects and inform content development from data.
  • Organize and launch a best-in-class event marketing plan that ties closed won TaxJar Plus event activities back to marketing dollars.
  • Bring a creative and open mind to the team and be ready to hit the ground running.
  • Assist the sales and design teams in developing campaign-specific content necessary to close business
  • Must have a proven track record for driving lead generation and building a qualified pipeline for sales.
  • Must be willing to travel and attend in-person trade-shows and live events with customers.
This is a key strategic marketing role and requires a self-starter with strong experience in executing demand generation projects and has a deep understanding of eCommerce business needs. You don’t wait for others to tell you what to do—you figure things out on your own. You ask questions. You get clarity. You do what’s best for the customer.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Extensive experience with SEO, SEM, Google AdWords, Facebook (FBX), Doubleclick Bid Manager (DBM), Amazon Media Group (AMG), Quora Ads, etc
  • Well-versed in marketing automation tools and analytics platforms (Marketo, Eloqua, Pardot, Drift, Grow, Drip, VWO, Groove, Google Analytics, HotJar, Hootsuite, Woopra)
  • Ability to understand how tools connect and how to leverage platforms to get our tools to talk to each other (Segment, Zapier)
  • Agile, humble, trustworthy, and a team player
  • Rapid learner who thrives in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Passion for marketing simple and intuitive products that solve complex problems in eCommerce
  • Excel at communicating with the team remotely (Basecamp, chat, zoom, email, etc)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office/Google Docs (Pivot tables, vlookups, etc)
  • Strong design capability a bonus (Canva, or Adobe CS).
  • This is not an entry level position. You’re an experienced demand generation marketer of 5+ years and are open to experimenting in new and creative ways of attracting potential new customers to try TaxJar.
