To participate in the development, design, and implementation of websites for the PETA Foundation and its supported organizations, paying particular attention to detail and scalability 

 In consultation with the PETA Foundation and its supported organizations and verified compliance with the objectives, standards, and requirements communicated by them:

Initiate and lead improvements in processes and standards of construction and maintenance of the supported organizations’ software applications

Develop technical functionality and implementation of the supported organizations’ Internet sites 

Assist in defining the functionality required to support elaborate Web interfaces and software applications efficiently

Recommend and initiate improvements to the supported organizations’ sites, operating procedures, and use of technology 

Serve as a primary point of contact for WordPress technical queries

Assist in the creation and maintenance of development-related standard operating procedures 

Document work and develop necessary support documents or assist the team with development documentation

Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalent work experience

Minimum of five years of related experience in website development roles

Demonstrated experience developing WordPress plugins and themes (authorship of publicly available plugins/themes on the WordPress Plugin Directory/Themes Directory a plus)

Demonstrated experience providing creative solutions in an agile environment

Regular contributions to the WordPress Community (Support Forum, Documentation, etc.)

Extensive experience with the following technologies:

        o Apache

        o MySQL

        o PHP

        o Nginx

        o WordPress

        o WordPress coding standards and best practices

        o WordPress Community

        o WordPress multisite

        o WordPress plugin development

        o WordPress theme development

Demonstrated experience using GitHub in a distributed development environment

• Proven success as a Web developer

• Familiarity with the following technologies/programs/platforms:

        o BuddyPress

        o CDN (Content Delivery Networks)

        o Responsive frameworks (Foundation, Bootstrap, etc.)

        o Laravel framework

        o WooCommerce

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Commitment to the objectives of the organization
