Customer Support/Success Lead

Kumu is a SaaS based data viz platform that helps people make sense of complex relationships, mostly through network, systems, and stakeholder maps. We’ve worked with some of the world’s top organizations including The Omidyar Group, Hewlett Foundation, USAID, Stanford ChangeLabs, Democracy Fund, World Bank, Humanity United and more.
We’re growing our customer support team and looking for someone who can provide stellar front-line support to our many customers. You’ll often be the first person our customers interact with – replying to support emails, supporting our community on Slack, pointing people to help docs, troubleshooting issues with customer maps, responding to billing and account inquiries, and much more.
Being a clear writer and a natural problem solver is a must. You should also work well in unstructured environments and bring a personal warmth that helps to build relationships with customers.
Timely responses to support requests are a top priority for us. To support our global customer base we are looking for candidates that can cover one of the following time zones (in your application, please specify which one interests you):
  • Europe
  • Asia Pacific
You don’t need to live in that time zone, but we expect you to be able to cover approximate business hours for one of those regions (8:00 – 17:00).
We’re open to working with skilled candidates who can’t immediately commit to full time work. If you’re currently employed or have other commitments, don’t let that hold you back from applying. If you’re excited to work with us and motivated by our manifesto then we want to hear from you!
Please send an email to careers@kumu.io if you’re interested or know somebody we can reach out to who might be. In your application, make sure to include the following:
  • Why you’re excited about working at Kumu
  • Link to a project you’ve built in Kumu
  • What time zone you want to cover
  • Recent photo of you doing something you love
Thanks!

Product Designer

We’re looking for product designers who enjoy wearing many hats: from product strategy, to customer experience and design details, all the way to front-end implementation (HTML and CSS). We expect you to have highly polished visual design and typography skills.
You’ll have opportunities to design experiences for craft beer fans, beer sellers, and breweries across a variety of platforms (web, iOS, Android, print, digital signage).
We expect you to be empathetic, customer focused, self-directed, to enjoy craft beer, and to be able to give and receive thoughtful, direct feedback.
You will work with a distributed, small, and extremely passionate BeerMenus team.

Next Steps

We’re currently looking for people who have 10-20 hours available per week to work with us on a freelance basis. We use hourly rates when we work with freelancers to avoid the pitfalls of trying to predict how long projects will take, and to encourage as much iteration as needed.
After you apply, we’ll get in touch to set up an interview if we think you could be a good fit. After the interview stage, we’ll start with a small freelance project to see if we’re happy working together. If we’re both excited to continue working together, we’ll start working on larger projects and ask you to allocate 10-20 hours per week to working with us.

React Focussed Fullstack Developer

Before you start reading, keep in mind that the aim of this job ad is to give you a feel for what it’s like to work at Catapult. There’s lots of research that suggests people often don’t apply because of so-called “requirements” in a job description. If you’re an experienced React engineer with some commercial experience in either Ruby on Rails or Elixir + Phoenix, we’d like to hear from you!
What you’re getting yourself in for
Our mission is to build the world’s best part time job. We spend our time thinking about how to give a global workforce complete control of their own work life while automating the hundreds of thousands of man hours which would normally be required to manage people on this scale.
We do this using React & Typescript on the frontend backed up by GraphQL servers, some written in Ruby and Rails and some in Elixir and Phoenix.
Businesses ranging from the largest high-street retailers to five star hotels and independent coffee boutiques rely on Catapult as their casual workforce. If you’ve spent time in a large UK city, you’ve probably been served by a Catapult waiter or sales assistant without even realising it!
We’re well funded by some amazing investors, our product is live in over 100 locations across the UK and we’ve recently launched in Berlin making us the first and only pan-european player in this space.
Our company values https://writing.joincatapult.com/our-values/ are really important to us and influence every facet of how we work together.
Things we’ve been working on recently
No two days are ever the same in a startup, but to give you a flavour of what we’ve been up to recently:
  • Standardising on React, Typescript and GraphQL across our suite of applications
  • Using Kubernetes to automatically deploy standalone environments for our feature branches, complete with anonymised production data
  • Applying machine learning to the billions of data points we generate each year to completely obsolete the interview process
Preparing the entire Rails, Phoenix, React and React Native environment for Globalization

About the role

We’ve been growing rapidly over the last three years and as we continue our international roll out, we’re looking for ambitious engineers to help us build the future of work. Our engineering principles https://writing.joincatapult.com/engineering-principles/ give a good feel for how we work together and what we value.
We’re a distributed, remote first engineering organisation with team members in Prague, Warsaw, London, Bristol and Bangkok. We work in autonomous pods, each of which has ownership of one area of our business. We’re open to remote applicants from anywhere within the EU.
About You
  • Your real passion is for the front end, finding ways to deliver innovative, polished user experiences and you’re experienced supporting this by working in either Ruby & Rails or Elixir & Phoenix backend
  • You’re excited about the potential technologies like GraphQL and Typescript have to speed up and improve the process of building complex client side applications
  • You really buy into the importance of getting things into the hands of a user quickly and then iterating
  • You actively think about when to incur technical debt and when to pay it back
  • You like to explore new technologies and have a keen eye for when something new can add real business value
  • You’ve probably spent most of your time over the last few years focussed on building React applications
  • You’re in favour of, but pragmatic about, automated testing. You like all production grade code to have good test coverage but understand when it may make sense to test MVP’s with a lower degree of test coverage
  • Bonus points for experience with Typescript / GraphQL
What you’ll get
As well as being a part of a well funded startup at one of the most exciting phases of it’s growth, you’ll get:
  • Competitive salary + stock options + 25 days paid holiday per year
  • A strong approach to professional development and mentorship, everyone has a dedicated L&D budget for books, training and the like
  • Several product retreats per year where the whole team goes on a team retreat, looks back on how we can improve and then spends a week or so hacking on new ideas and exploring new technologies
  • Regular social events & the opportunity to travel to our other offices
  • Company Macbook Pro which you’re free to take home
  • A flexible work environment focussed on output not hours

Request for Proposals: UX Research Contractor, MoveOn (REMOTE)

MoveOn Request for Proposal: UX Research Consultant

    Project Overview
MoveOn is seeking a user research consultant or firm to conduct in-depth user interviews, create personas and journey maps based on real people and experiences, and develop insights about member experience to support our growth work and improve our campaigning.
The goal of this project is to hold a deeper understanding of member experience and how MoveOn can grow intentionally and equitably by meeting potential members where they are. Your role will be to humanize the member experience by generating and combining qualitative member data with MoveOn’s existing analytics to create relatable, clear personas that are based on real people for MoveOn’s millions of members.
You will work closely with MoveOn staff and the core group working on this project. The consultant/firm will be expected to integrate and collaborate with the core working group on all aspects on this work. It’s important to note that MoveOn will own the majority of the quantitative research for this project but will share insights and information with the consultant/firm to ensure success. You will also interact with MoveOn members, so it is important that the consultant/firm we work with is respectful and understands the importance of confidentiality and security.
In our external campaigning as well as our internal work together as a team, we seek to advance core values of equity and inclusion, including a commitment to identifying and uprooting unjust oppression. We know social identities including race, gender, immigration status, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, age, ability, and more can show up in organizations and the movement in ways that provide unfair advantages to some while unfairly disadvantaging others.
    Project Deliverables

    Topline deliverables:
    • Conduct in-depth user interviews (number and format of interviews will be decided between MoveOn and consultant).

    • Create 3-6 personas (roughly 2-3 for current members and 3 for nonmembers) drawing from interviews and other provided sources of data. Personas should capture real people, avoid stereotypes, have depth and texture, and account for experiences in a number of scenarios.

    • Create journey maps for personas.

    • Create a digitized and interactive report for staff that includes user research highlights, personas, and other key information.
    Other deliverables:

    • Contribute to identifying interventions and tests based on user research and personas.

    • Collaborate effectively with our staff to ensure that the personas you create accurately reflect our current and potential members.
    Contract Timeline
The contract will likely run from April 2019 through June 30, 2019.

    Criteria for Selection
    • Demonstrated ability to deliver deep user research and synthesize quantitative and qualitative user data.

    • Experience creating personas and journey maps across identities and communities.

    • Portfolio of relevant work.

    • Demonstrated commitment to advancing equity and anti-oppression in the outward-facing work you produce, as well as within your firm.

    • Your team’s ability to collaborate closely with the MoveOn team.

    • Ability to stay on budget and track projects and billing effectively.

    • Your firm’s electronic security and data protection practices.

    Proposal Process & Timeline
We will accept proposals until 5 p.m. ET Monday, March 11.
We plan to follow up to schedule conversations with a portion of the consultants/firms submitting proposals. We hope to make a final decision by April 1, with the project likely starting a week after on April 8, 2019.

Contract negotiations may incorporate some of or the vendor’s entire proposal. It is understood that the proposal will become a part of the official procurement file on this matter without obligation to MoveOn.
